Barbeque Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Color Name: Barbeque

Rosemary is a valuable Old World aromatic shrub from Europe through Asia Minor. It is native to much of the Mediterranean region and most specifically in the south of France.

Rosemary is a wonderful plant to add to your garden. It is one of the oldest recorded herbs in history dating back to Ancient Greeks and Romans and is associated with Mary. According to Spanish legend, Mary draped her cloak over a rosemary bush on the Holy Family’s flight to Egypt, turning the color of the blossoms from white to blue.

Rosemarinus officinalis What could be better than a scrumptious kabob hot off the grill? What if the skewer you used released aromatic and savory essences into the food as it cooked? Barbeque rosemary grows sturdy, straight stems, ideal for shish kabobs, and turns ordinary grill fare into succulently infused delicacies. We think that the tantalizing aroma alone is enough to convince you never to go back to standard skewers again!

Bring it indoors and place in a sunny location for year round harvest and wonderful scent, rosemary is used in all types of cooking and around the house. Rosemary is drought tolerant, fragrant, evergreen, rabbit resistant and deer resistant.

Leave a bit of the green at the top and soak each stem in water for at least an hour before barbequing. Then you simply load each Rosemary stem up with your favorite meat and vegetables and grill like you would any skewer. Leaving the green at the top allows that portion to hang off the grill for a "cool touch" handle. The aroma will have your mouth watering and the taste is extraordinary! And when it's not on the grill, the profuse, clear blue flowers and evergreen foliage make the perfect privacy screen. Grows to 6-foot high!
